Staff Spotlight – Charlie Bruckman

This month’s spotlight is on Client Relationship Associate, Charlie Bruckman.

Can you explain your dual roles at the firm? What do you do in each key role and what about it do you enjoy most?
As a Client Relationship Associate, I work with clients and the advisors I support, Jessie and Jason. My goal is to ensure seamless communication between clients and advisors. One of the aspects of this role that I enjoy the most is getting to connect with our clients and focusing on building relationships, while helping to create a positive experience.

As an Investment Analyst, I work closely with our investment team to manage client portfolios and assess performance. I find it rewarding to analyze market and economic trends, using those insights to strategically position portfolios that align with clients’ investment goals.

What community organizations / volunteer opportunities are you currently involved in?  What do these organizations do and what is your role?
One of my favorite times is when our firm volunteers at the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan. I also enjoy volunteering for the Knights of Columbus annual fundraiser in my community of Owosso. In the past, I have also enjoyed helping coach T-ball and youth baseball.

What are a couple of important lessons you have learned while working at SWMG?
How important collaboration is to our team. Not only does it help to provide clients with the best possible experience, but by working with people who have different strengths it can help you to grow as well.

The importance of going the extra mile cannot be overstated. Supporting clients in every possible way with genuine intentions not only strengthens our relationships but also reinforces how much we appreciate and value them.

What are some key lessons learned at SWMG?
One of the earliest lessons was understanding the power of credibility over visibility. Our team believes in leading with integrity and strength rather than relying on flashy advertising. That philosophy is embedded in how we approach marketing—focusing on credibility, accountability, and transparency.

If you weren’t working in the wealth management field, what do you think you would have done instead?
My college education is in economics, and I have always enjoyed math and research so I think some type of analyst role would be up my alley. However, if I were to explore something completely different, I’ve always had a deep love for being on the water and a strong interest in science when I was younger. If wealth management hadn’t been an option, I think pursuing a career in Marine Biology would have been exciting.

What is something that clients might be surprised to learn about you?
I once went skydiving while I was in college. It turned out to be super exciting and I had a lot of fun
