Staff Spotlight – Kari Harber

What do you like most about the work you do?

I really enjoy the problem-solving aspect of the job. Getting things figured out and helping to ease a client’s mind is a great feeling.  I also love talking to people, hearing about their families and adventures, and celebrating the big moments that planning helped them achieve.

What do you have planned for the summer?

We plan on seeing George Strait, Chris Stapleton, and Little Big Town in concert at Ford Field in July.   We are also hoping to take a couple camping trips and visit Levi (my son) in Nashville, TN.

What are a couple of important lessons you have learned from working at SWMG?

The importance of planning. There is much more to your financial success than just the portfolio.

If you weren’t in the wealth management industry, what do you think you would be doing instead?

I am sure I would still be in the customer service field, but I would love to work in publishing or as a copy editor.  I probably would have needed to find that passion a little earlier in life.

You’re an avid reader. What are some books from 2024 that you would recommend?

  • The Women by Kristin Hannah
  • Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt
  • All the Ugly and Wonderful Things by Bryn Greenwood
  • The River We Remember and This Tender Land – both by William Kent Krueger
