We are excited to focus this month’s Staff Spotlight on summer intern, Adonis Farah. The team agrees that Adonis has been a wonderful addition to the organization. He is a hard worker, thoughtful, and presents himself with the maturity and professionalism of someone who has been in the workforce much longer. Adonis had the opportunity to work with our financial planning and investment management departments.
What did you enjoy most about your internship this summer?
Everyone was very welcoming and always listened to my perspective by allowing me to work on new projects that I had ideas on. It was great to be able to work in many different aspects of the industry and I feel like I learned a lot about wealth management, the market, and financial planning. They really allowed me to make the best of the experience.
Besides interning at SWMG, what were some of the highlights of your time away from school?
Besides interning at SWMG, I interned at the Flint City Bucks for game days where I did game preparation and merch-selling. I also spent a lot of time playing soccer and learning how to golf with the goal of breaking 100 by the end of summer.
What one or two things of most value did you learn during your internship?
The most valuable thing I learned from my wealth management internship is that the market is very challenging to predict and the best way to create wealth is through long-term planning and diversification in a portfolio. I also learned that building strong relationships and trust with clients is essential.
As you enter your junior year at the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor, what is on your mind?
Making the most of it and having fun. These first two years went by very fast, so just making sure I make the best of my remaining time there.
If you could pick your dream future job, based on what you know today, what do you think it would be? Why?
Currently, I think my dream future job is in business development with a focus on improving communities. I’ve found that I really enjoy working with numbers and investments, but also like to see big picture results that can positively impact whole communities.
What is one fun fact about you that always surprises people?
When I was fourteen, I played in the World Youth Soccer Cup in Sweden. It was a great experience which I definitely learned a lot from.
