Staff Spotlight – Stan Seybold

This month’s spotlight is on Stan Seybold, our Marketing Director.

What makes working in marketing and communications so exciting?

No two days are ever the same! One day might involve planning an upcoming client event, while the next is spent refining our website’s SEO to enhance its visibility and credibility within the community. Keeping our branding fresh, supporting our team’s messaging, and ensuring our content remains relevant are ongoing efforts that make the role both dynamic and rewarding.

What’s the most enjoyable part of the work you do?

Marketing and communications bring together creativity, strategy, and relationship-building. The mix of developing fresh ideas, executing engaging campaigns, and strengthening client connections makes every day exciting. Seeing how our branding and messaging resonate with clients and prospects adds an extra layer of fulfillment.

What community organizations or volunteer work are you involved in?

Giving back to the community has always been important to me and the firm. Currently, I put time towards initiatives with Voices for Children and The Food Bank of Eastern Michigan. Additionally, I led our past involvement with the Pink ParTee at Warwick Hills Golf & Country Club. This event raised funds for local women battling breast cancer and was especially meaningful to me.

What are some key lessons learned at SWMG?

One of the earliest lessons was understanding the power of credibility over visibility. Our team believes in leading with integrity and strength rather than relying on flashy advertising. That philosophy is embedded in how we approach marketing—focusing on credibility, accountability, and transparency.

If you weren’t in marketing and communications, what would you be doing?

Before working in marketing full-time, I spent time fixing up and selling cars on the side. There’s something rewarding about taking a vehicle, improving its appeal, and finding the right buyer who values the work put into it. If I lived somewhere warmer, I’d probably be doing the same thing—but with boats!
