We Need to Talk…

Those words can strike fright, or at least trepidation, into many of us. In this case, we mean talking about family values and our wishes as we get older, and eventually pass. Having family or one on one conversations about the future is an important, but often overlooked, part of financial and estate planning. To help think through how to have those conversations, we’ve invited author Cameron Huddleston to share lessons learned in her own life and captured in her book, “Mom and Dad, We Need to Talk: How to Have Essential Conversations With Your Parents About Their Finances.” Cameron was a caregiver for more than 12 years for her mom, who had Alzheimer’s disease, and currently is director of education and content at Careful, the first service built to organize and protect aging adults’ daily finances.

The webinar will cover:

  • Why parents need to talk about their finances, health, and what’s most important to them with their adult children
  • How adult children can overcome fears of talking to parents about these topics
  • Ways to start the conversation and what to do when other family members are reluctant to talk
  • How to include siblings in the conversation
  • What information to share or gather

You can then watch it at your leisure and send the webinar link to as many family members or friends as you would like.
